Our review will be especially useful for those who only choose their first guitar, wants to understand what to pay attention to before choosing a particular model. An electro-acoustic guitar is a harmonic musical instrument equipped with pickups (magnetic or piezoelectric) or a microphone.

The Fender CC 60sce is an electro-acoustic guitar from the famous American manufacturer. There is an ideal instrument for beginners who only learn to play the guitar and for musicians of medium level. The guitar is made in the form of a Grand Concert (GC). This type of acoustics is the smallest of the major styles and elements inheriting direct of the classical guitar, with shallow, rounded top and moderate volume.

I did quite a bit of research before choosing this guitar, and the main reason I chose it over others was the overall good reviews it has received for the price point. I know there are much better guitars, but for a novice, I’m very pleased with the sound and quality of this guitar. I don’t see myself being “off” again now that I have a guitar that plays and sounds well, coupled with my new knowledge of how to maintain it.
As for the accessories that came with the guitar, I am a little annoyed that the description says it comes with a Fender hardshell case, but mine came with a Gearbox case. I would have bought it anyway, but I’m not a fan of inaccurate product descriptions, because there is a difference. Also, the strap is cheap, but I already had a nice leather strap for my Yamaha, and the included strap is serviceable, at least.

The model has a body of reduced size that provides convenience when playing in any position, standing or sitting. The ergonomic shape of the cutaway provides at ease access to the upper frets.

  • The guitar’s soundboard or top is made of solid spruce wood. This gives the instrument excellent acoustic characteristics for any style of play;
  • The back and ribs (body sides) are made of mahogany. This gives the instrument a spectacular appearance but also allows for a balanced sound and excellent volume;
  • Fender “Easy-to-Play” neck is also made of mahogany;
  • The neck is comfortable form with rosewood fingerboard with 20 frets Vintage, radius 12 inch (305 mm), inlay mother-of-pearl dots with a diameter of 3 mm;
  • Bridge is made of rosewood, the hardware is chrome.

Fishman piezo pickup with preamp and built-in tuner is equipped with convenient controls for adjustment to maintain a clean, thick and rich sound with excellent resonance. Brands such as Fishman stand out for bringing high quality products to the market, having one of their equipment on a guitar is a guarantee of good sound.

Great tone
Ideal option for beginner or intermediate guitarists
Balanced sound
It is beautifully finished
Easy to play
Excellent volume
Maybe: the strap is cheap

How to check an acoustic guitar is solid top or not?

The experienced player will always assess the instruments with soundboard, body sides and back solid because the different types of cover in combination with the sides and back provide a range of solutions sound and a palette of timbres and colors that a guitar is laminated may not provide, by very worthily fulfill its function. Instruments made of solid wood are the best, the difference is very noticeable.

When we speak of solid wood we refer to the soundboard because usually the neck is always made of solid wood, even in the cheapest instruments. Solid wood guitars sound better, but they are more delicate and more expensive. When we say that they are more delicate because they are more vulnerable to changes in humidity and temperature, the most frequent problem being the curvature of the top, which causes the bridge to be uncoiled (from less than a millimeter until completely).

Also the fretboard can shrink and protrude the frets at the ends on each side of the neck. Of course with a good humidifier and the necessary care this does not happen. Solid woods = care and attention towards the instrument. But we must also take into account that approximately 80% of the sound of a guitar comes from the top. The combination of soundboard, body sides and back laminate is more economical and stable that the instrument is completely solid, and provides excellent results for a price more than affordable.

It is important to avoid buying a guitar that has does not have the top is solid, and a minimum of sitka spruce. To avoid the covers laminated and those that are not spruce or cedar, will surely be bric-a-brac, but that will not sound well. A practical example in terms of the cover: Solid spruce: top solid spruce. Spruce: top is laminated spruce.

Fender CD-60SCE

This guitar incorporating powerful built-in electronics is suitable for mid-level players. It combines great sound and simplicity of the play. The distinctive feature of the instrument is the Dreadnought body with a Venetian cutaway. Today, this model of acoustic guitar is more popular and most important in specific styles, such as Bluegrass music.

This is more suited to play standing because after a while of playing while sitting down, given the width of the size of its largest lobe are somewhat uncomfortable. The guitar body is large and deep that it generates a powerful sound, good volume and a great amount of deep.

  • Natural color.

  • Pick-up: Fishman Classic Design with preamplifier
  • Adjusting knobs: Volume, Bass, Treble

Over a decade after putting down the guitar I was inspired to take it up again. I got this bundle since it includes all the essentials. HOLY COW!!! WHAT A GREAT DEAL THIS BUNDLE IS!!! First, the guitar itself is a beautiful, quality instrument. It’s a solid top guitar with good sound, and a comfortable action and neck. It was easy to tune and is a tremedous value for an “entry level” guitar. Second, the case. There are better cases available but there are certainly alot of worse cases out there. Bottom line on the case, it’s a $90 case by itself and you get it for less than $40 here. A great value if you ask me. Third, the tuner. It works, it’s easy to use, that’s all you really need right? Everything else is good. OH, most important…. This is a LEFT HANDED model. There aren’t alot of options for us southpaws so JUST BUY THIS!!! You won’t regret it.

Tip:NOTE: width of the nut: who come from the classical guitar is very complicated to adapt to a nut typical acoustic guitar, the width of the nut is usually of about 43 mm (which the Americans call 1-11/16”). Your fingers do not seem to fit, although it must be said that over time everyone gets used to everything. However it is worth knowing that there are acoustic guitars with a wider nut.
Great sound and simplicity of the play
Easy to tune
Maybe: strings are separated enough for easy picking
Easy to play
Maybe: tuning pegs are of decent quality
Maybe: a few complaints about the case

Fender CD 60SCE 12 string review

Combined with powerful electronics on board, built-in tuner with great tone and playability the Fender CD 60SCE 12 string is an excellent choice for players who want to expand their sound palette. Venetian cutaway of the box is for easy access to the upper frets. The material of the soundboard is made of solid wood spruce; the material of the back & sides and neck is mahogany.

The instrument is also commonly called “Docerola”. The 12 string guitar has twelve strings, distributed in pairs, but the last 4 strings in octaves and the first 2-tone’unisono, which help to create a sound richer and more resonant than that of a regular guitar of six strings. Essentially, it is a type of guitar with a chorus effect natural, because of the small differences between the frequencies produced by each of the two strings of each pair.

The pairs of strings of a twelve string guitar produce a shimmering chorus effect. To produce this effect the sounds of each chord -at a glance – the same timbre and nearly (but never exactly) the same height as they converge and are heard as a single. When the effect succeeds, none of the two sounds constituents are perceived as out of tune. In general, this amalgam of sounds is characterized by its quality and rich and vibrant, that would not exist if the sound came from a single string. The effect is most noticeable when it comes to sounds that sustain for periods more extensive, as an extended chord on guitar.

The greater number of strings makes interpretation more complex, especially for the hand that plucks. The space between the pairs of double strings is typically narrower than the one between the strings of a regular guitar, so more precision is needed with the pick or fingernail when it is not just about strumming chords Putting in pairs fine strings that break easily with thicker bass strings also represents a difficulty for the performer, and only a trained guitarist can confidently press a single string of each pair at any speed. However, with practice, the twelve string guitar is not overly difficult to play.

  • Dreadnought cutaway body style
  • Fishman low-profile pickup/preamp
  • Solid spruce top with scalloped “X”-bracing
  • Mahogany back and sides
  • ‘Easy-to-Play’ neck with rolled fingerboard edges
So nice. Tuned it up. E flat at nut was PERFECT E flat at 12th fret. Awesome tone. Beautiful to look at. EZ Play neck? LOVE IT. Was ready to replace saddle and change to my strings (I usually HATE coated strings), but I even like the strings. I’m just going to play it all night.

Sounds awesome.
Easy to tune
A reasonable price
Maybe: strings are good
Maybe: more precision is needed with the pick or fingernail

How Acoustic Guitars Work

In an acoustic guitar, the oscillation of the strings induces a vibration of the acoustic case of the instrument. This resonance amplifies the vibration produced by the strings and spreads it in the surrounding environment. In an electric guitar, on the other hand, magnetic pick-ups generate a magnetic field near the string. This is then magnetized and, by vibrating, in turn changes the magnetic field. These oscillations of the resulting magnetic field create a variation of flow through the coils that are around the pick-up. An induced current is then generated within these coils.

This electrical signal which therefore contains the characteristics of the vibration of the metallic string in oscillation (frequency, amplitude, etc.) is too weak to be audible through playback by means of loudspeakers. It is then sent to an amplifier and only after being appropriately amplified is it sent to one or more speakers that transform the electrical signal into a sound signal heard by the human ear. Often the amplifier and the loudspeaker are integrated in the same device called it “amplifier”. Sometimes before reaching the amplifier the electric signal is processed by one or more effects that alter its characteristics.
