As a “Jerry and Charlie” Daniels and Fucuda (Charlie Fuqua) had formed a vocal duo that was performed into the Indianapolis back in 1931.

But in 1936 Jerry was replaced by Bill Kelly and duo collapsed. On the same year, Daniels started The Three Spades group, with which he was recorded ever since. After some time together the group was disbanded. Sometime later, Jerry formed another band called Mr. Words, Mr. Music and Mr. Strings, that performed in Indianapolis all the way to late 1942.

In 1943, Daniels was drafted to the military forces, after which he attended the University of Indiana, where he masters the piano and guitar MacArthur Conservatory of Music in Indianapolis and wrote a music column for the Indiana Herald. He was proclaimed a Sagamore of the Wabash in 1988 by the governor of Indiana for distinguished service to the State and was awarded a key to the City of Indianapolis in 1992.
